People who are ‘woke’ have gone off the deep end in political correctness. They feel that they are ‘alert to racial or social discrimination and injustice’. For example, according to these people, one is not supposed to recognise gender or race. Any other signal is regarded as ‘sexist’ and/or racist. The word ‘woke’ has been around since 2014 when it appeared in some pop songs. Since then, from 2017 on, ‘wokeness’ and ‘staying woke’ became a slogan used by the Black Lives Matter movement. Today, ‘woke’ is used by anyone who feels that they are in a position to judge others on just about every subject, be it social, political, religious, racial or sexual. Nine out of ten times, these fairly young folks, full of 'wokeness', come from white, well-to-do families. A lack of ability to have an intelligent, well-informed discussion based on facts seems to be evident. Out of arguments, a ‘woke’ will inevitably stick a label on you, effectively killing a discussion. I can do that too. I call them 'snowflakes'. Sad to see that some of this overboard ‘wokeness’ is being adopted by official organisations and Governments. No, I want no part of it…
